Remco Torenbosch
Remco Torenbosch (b. 1982, Netherlands) works with the structural conditions that underwrite financial, political and social realities. By methods of recontextualization, collaboration and repositioning, Torenbosch aims to create a new discourse of historic and durational knowledge production. His most recent projects examine global infrastructure as a medium of polity; landmark court rulings; the formation of corporate conglomerations; and the power of private companies that manage essential resources, that question the notion of ownership and accessibility.
Torenbosch studied at the Willem de Kooning Academie in Rotterdam, Universität der Künste in Berlin, and is an alumnus of the Rijksakademie Amsterdam (2018–2019). In 2013 he was nominated for the Prix de Rome. His work has been exhibited at: Kunsthalle Wien, De Appel Amsterdam, Victoria and Albert Museum London, Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, Kunsthaus Zurich, Centre d’art contemporain, Parc Saint Léger and GAMeC Bergamo.
