Nora Turato

Secret Wing

Nora Turato (b. 1991, Zagreb, Croatia) lives and works in Amsterdam, Netherlands. She graduated from the Rietveld Academie (Amsterdam), the Werkplaats Typografie (Arnhem), and from the Rijksakademie (Amsterdam). Her practice is exploring the volatility of language. In her work, she translates information absorbed from her daily intake of articles, conversations, subtitles and advertising slogans into linguistic-visual scripts for videos, installations, artist books, murals and spoken word performances. Her work speaks to an age in which language is disconnected from its informative function and words are abstracted from meaning. They have been represented in Beursschouwburg, Brussels (Belgique), Kunstmuseum Liechtenstein, (Liechtenstein), Bunkier Sztuki Contemporary Art Gallery, Krakow (Poland), Serralves Museum, Porto (Portugal), Mumok Vienna (Austria).
