Alexandra Sukhareva



Alexandra Sukhareva (b. 1983, Moscow, Russia) lives and works in Moscow, Russia. She studied at the Valand School of Fine Arts, Gothenburg (Sweden); ICA, Moscow (Russia); Moscow State University for Arts and Industry, Moscow (Russia). She is known for her chemical experiments, working with toxic and corrosive materials to produce objects including mirrors and chlorine canvases. Sukhareva’s relationship with her materials is an intuitive one, where she acts as a facilitator setting up the right conditions for them to become altered. She has participated in exhibitions such as dOCUMENTA (13) (Kassel); Manifesta10 (St.Petersburg); 1st Triennial of Russian Art, Garage Museum (Moscow); Omnipotence, Marso Gallery (Mexico City), Fusiform Gyrus, Lisson Gallery (London), The Rose has Teeth in the Mouth of a Beast, A Palazzo (Brescia); Human Commonalities, Vadim Sidur Museum (Moscow) and Counter-Illusions – 3 International Biennale For Young Art, DK ZIL (Moscow).
